The Sohar Power &
Desalination Station is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea and
will provide both electricity and potable water for the region.
The US$408M plant
comprises a 585MW gas fired combined cycle power station and
a6,250cum/hr desalination plant.
During the
commissioning of one of the Gas Turbines un-burnt gas entered the
exhaust system where it ignited; the resulting deflagration causing
extensive damage to the associated Diverter Damper.
ICC were retained to
advise and assist in the technical evaluation of the incident;
justification and presentation of the claim under the project’s
insurance, and determination of the claim quantum.
